Compatibility of Rutoken devices with Red Database DBMS is confirmed

Aktiv, the leading Russian manufacturer and developer of information protection software and hardware systema, and RED SOFT, a domestic information technology solutions provider, jointly tested and confirmed interoperability of USB-tokens and smart cards of Rutoken EDS 2.0 and Rutoken EDS 3.0 lines with Red Database DBMS.

Red Database DBMS is a modern Russian open-source DBMS. The product is certified by the Russian Federal Service for Technical and Export Control, which approves its use in government information systems up to, inclusive, the first security class, and in personal data information systems up to, inclusive, the first security level. The software is registered in the Unified Register of Russian Software and Databases (No.1).

Rutoken is the first fully domestic line of hardware products and solutions for authentication and generation of electronic signatures in Russia. The Rutoken card operating system, Rutoken drivers for Windows, Rutoken Plugin and Rutoken KeyBox are listed in the Unified Register of Russian Software and Databases. Rutoken products have all the necessary certificates from the Federal Security Service of Russia and the Federal Service for Technical and Export Control of Russia.

Using Rutoken USB-tokens and smart cards replaces insecure password authentication on Red Database DBMS operators' workplaces with the secure two-factor authentication. To access the database, the operator needs to connect a Rutoken device to his PC and enter its PIN code. Holding the device is the first factor of authentication and knowing the PIN is the second. Stealing a token or PIN-code will not allow an intruder to gain access to the database. If the theft is detected, the system administrator blocks access to it.

Aktiv and RED SOFT specialists have tested and confirmed correct operation of two-factor authentication of Red Database DBMS users using the following Rutoken devices:

- Rutoken S (micro/Type-C);

- Rutoken Lite (micro);

- Rutoken EDS 2.0 (micro/flash/touch);

- Rutoken EDS 2.0 2100 (micro/Type-C);

- Rutoken EDS PKI (micro/Type-C);

- Rutoken 2151;

- Rutken EDS 2.0 3000 (micro/Type-C);

- Rutoken EDS 2.0 2100;

- Rutoken EDS 3.0 NFC smart card;

- Rutoken 2151 smart card.
